Alberto C. Meloni, President

Bringing to Exploration Place a total of 25 years of experience in the museum field, Mr. Meloni joined Exploration Place in July 2006. He previously served as CEO of St. Joseph Museums, Inc., in St. Joseph, Mo. During his time there, Mr. Meloni brought several museums in need of guidance under one entity, ensured their financial stability, established working relationships with the City of St. Joseph, the State of Missouri, and the community, and grew the combined endowment to $1.5 million. For these and other outstanding efforts during his time there, he received The Governor’s Humanities Award in 2003.

Mr. Meloni has pursued doctoral studies at the University of Minnesota, earning All But Dissertation status. He obtained a master’s degree in American History from Harvard University. He holds a master’s degree in European History from Marquette University, where he also obtained his bachelor’s degree in History and Philosophy — with a minor in Anthropology and Theology.



Dion Brown, Chief Operations Officer

Dion is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of Exploration Place. Dion earned a bachelor’s of science degree, graduating magna cum laude in Human Resource Development from Southwestern College. In addition, Dion retired from the United States Air Force after 21 years of service.
